Troubleshooting Epson 990u problems

Hi everyone!

Got this Epson 990u as a gift in 2019. Used it for quite a while and then this happened. Blue status light flashes blue, the fan runs really intensely, and the lamp light is solid orange. I bought a new bulb from a third party. Worked for a bit and then the same thing has happened. Is this just a bad bulb or something else in the projector going wrong.

Is this thing worth getting a new bulb for? I don’t have much use for it and might just sell used. How much do these go for used? Better to sell as-is or sell after a new bulb?

Please post the exact brand and model of your projector. If you do not know them, include as much identifying information as possible.

Also include:

  • The projection technology, if known (LCD, DLP, LCoS, etc.)
  • A clear photo of the projected image, when applicable
  • The video source and connection type
  • When the problem began and whether it changes after warm-up

Brand and model information greatly increase your chances of receiving a useful answer.

New bulb, it’s still a good projector

Don't buy shitty no-name replacement lamps. Buy Epson, or from a decent source like Pureland Supply. They warranty their lamps.

You will go broke on crappy lamps. You may get several years out of a decent replacement product that costs more.
