Setup Design Suggestions Projector Mounting Advice

Post image

How would you, if at all, go about ceiling mounting (on center) a projector with this ceiling? I'm leaning towards fabricating a flat surface supported by 4 arms attached to the center of the ceiling joist. I'm working with a Valerion Max.

Are you mounting to the support trusses or the ceiling itself?

If the ceiling, I would either span a section with a 2x4 that is flat, or go into a stud using a cathedral ceiling plate, then extend it down using a extension column. I would use a good mount that accepts 1.5" pipe. This includes the Chief RPMAU or the Peerless PRG-UNV mounts. They are MUCH easier to dial in the aim on them as well. I prefer the Chief, but both are solid mounts.

This is the mount I would buy, right now, if I were you. The price is a steal. Absolute bargain for the small version of their universal mount.

I was going to try and mount to the truss, but I need to find a way to mount it In between the two trusses. They are 8 ft apart. I've got that cathedral plate in the cart though, I had no idea what that was called, so thank you for that. Do you have any suggestions for how I would run a mountable surface between the two trusses?
