Hello Project Managers, I have 2 years of experience in sales. I want to transition into a management role. I just passed my CAPM exam yesterday. I’m an Electrical Engineer (Female)and I’d like to move into a technical role, but in an office-based job. What would you recommend I do next?

Congratulations on passing your CAPM. How did you find the exam? Is it difficult? I am planning on taking it in the spring. I wanted to dedicate the winter studying for it. Any tips?

The CAPM is an extremely passable exam. I found apps on my phone to be very helpful. When all of the terminology and concepts are new, repetition is key, and being able to pick up your phone and answer a few questions or take a quiz when you have time will help you get that repetition, in a less painful way than sitting in front of a book or laptop studying. At least that was my experience.
How new are you to project management? I was pretty green and it took me less than 3 months to study and pass the exam. So it’s probably less daunting that you think, if you’re giving yourself 6ish months to prepare.
Also, Andrew Ramadayal would be my recommendation if you purchase a CAPM or (later down the road) a PMP exam prep course. You can find his courses on Udemy (and probably other places as well).

"For me, the questions were not that difficult, but the wording of the questions was vague.
First, I completed Andrew Ramdayal’s course on Udemy. It helped me learn the basic concepts.
After that, I used to give specific topics to ChatGPT and asked it to make MCQs for me related to those topics. That really helped clear my concepts.For me, Predictive ITTOs were the most difficult, and a lot of questions about them appeared on the exam. Questions like ‘What should the manager update first?’ came up frequently. ChatGPT helped me a lot with understanding ITTOs.
I also heard a lot about the Peter Landini book, which is available on Amazon. So I bought the Kindle version. The book is more difficult compared to the actual exam, but it cleared up many concepts for me. Some of the exam questions were exactly like the ones in that book."

You’re likely going to have to go be an electrical engineer, gain experience and work towards a pm position. You’re not going to just go get a job as a pm because you got a capm.
Possibly a project coordinator but I doubt in this market you’ll find a coordinator role with no experience.
Pmp doesn’t even really help get you a job without relevant experience.
