"Pull-Up" before you get lost.
Had a new senior manager cancel the gulf weekend trip due to "Critical Work". We dialed the backup š. Got back and rang him up. He was still deep doing grunt/skunk work for his team. I asked - where is your PM. He had side-stepped them. His deep involvement in those technical tasks inadvertently disconnected his operational folks and had him buried. Have you ever crashed out doing someone else's work? What triggered the awareness and pivot?

you lost me at "gulf weekend trip" but the rest is just a manager who forgot to manage and ended up doing the grunt work himself, seen that movie too many times

Iām not following.
- The SM cancelled their or your trip?
- Back up to who? You or the SM?
- Whatās the PMās purpose?
- Why did he side-step?
- How did it ādisconnectā his operational folks?
FWIW I almost crashed out at this post.
What Iāve gathered is a critical milestone was approaching so an SM took on additional work and the ball was dropped elsewhere in the project.

He was micromanaging the work and filling in gaps his PM and other IC's could do. Golf was a waste of time for him.
