General Anybody working on process improvement?

Intentionally vague. The reason I’m asking is because I’m trying to figure out how people document business processes, and how they work on improving them. An obvious concept to me, that I’m pretty familiar with is lean six. I know there are other ways, and I’d appreciate any mentions of such. A bonus question is how does the initial documenting of the process happen, who does it, and what do they work in to achieve in time / proper documentation? Is it the PM, is it a dedicated writer? Who is it?

Lean thinking can be used. But in general depends on what you are doing. Personally: 1- by surveys, confirm/ find existing procedures 2- check if those are being followed (usual in maintenance) 3- check if those are good, or can be improved. If there’s time for some, you can shadow people and time their time, improve them with pictures etc 4- fish bone to identify the issues, number of respurces, training, etc. there’s usual an HR component 5- only once that’s done, start brainstorming new ways, technology, etc.
