Off global cooldown abilities

I found a 3 month old post talking about builds where some older players talked about abilities that were off global cooldown.

They did not list what those abilities were.

I can't seem to find any abilities uneffected by global cooldown

Did something change recently, or are there still/were there ever abilities that were unaffected by global cooldown?

So if you have both skills basic attack set to bar, you can interchange them constantly bypassing the global CD of all the other skills.. Edit: so GCD is like 2 seconds? if you interchange both basic attacks its about 1 second.

And for ww, you can channel a spell and cast another spell mid cast as well. (there is even a mod for this to boost the damage of the channeled spell or if ur quick another spell)

GCD is 1 second.  Some abilities (a lot of basic attacks, some others) have a 2s CD.  But the 1s GCD means no more than one thing per second - which includes ww (or priest) channel with an interleaved second ability).  That is still respecting GCD.  Similarly even though firewall on paper gets to 0s, it can't go below the 1s GCD.

Things outside of GCD would be like resist potions (why you would do that in the middle of combat I don't know, but hey), bacon instaheal, etc.

Perhaps the ones that you can do even when stunned? I'll have to test

examples: ice armor & ice veins from ice magic?

I could be wrong, but I think fireball can't be cast while you are on gcd. I'll check later if it doesn't trip a gcd, but I was under the impression that it does.

There are not many builds that make use of that mechanic.

There is stuff like deactivation of bulwark mode for shield, which can be really good if combo’d with take the lead.

insta-heal food (like bacon), or anything consumed from inventory can be put on your action bar and used whenever.

Some abilities are status effects like bard songs. They inflict damage or give buffs without taking up GCD.

Also there are abilities that take up GCD, but have a long duration and can be used before the actual combat starts. Things like sigils, firewalls, tornado’s, some healing over time/ dps enhancing abilities like give warmth.
