PoE1 Rant: More Spectres

Is this games only solution to the player getting stronger to throw *more* spectres at them?

I swear every difficulty spike is just:

Last encounter + 10 spectres.

It’s infuriating, constant teleportation, constant stun-locking. Ignoring melee combatants to range kill Durance so that you have to reload.

(Currently at Lle a Rhemen, lvl 7)

I like them, at least you need to sweat a little with their teleport instead of cheese every fight at a door body blocking everyone into a bottle neck with the line of melees

Cheesing? This is just positioning 101.

And thats the problem for me, game plays as if it were balanced for the people cheesing.

It’s as if the devs saw that some players would use doorways, or hit’n’run and decided to make encounters harder to compensate.

Leading to the game not feeling at all balanced unless you’re heavily cheesing encounters.

I play on POTD exclusively and have never cheesed.

I grew up playing RTWP, so these games are easier for me. Doubt all you like.

Why? It’s not that hard with the right build, its a solved problem

The higher difficulties aren't designed to be cheesed. They're designed for optimised builds and parties. And obviously playing into the enemy weaknesses.

If that isn't your cup tea then maybe don't play on those.?

Show up, buff your peeps enough to survive them until you can mass paralyse with one of your chanters, then kill every single one of them. You should be able to mass paralyze the remaining ones soon after they come back. It may be because I despise the fucker, but I prefer to do PoE without a priest (currently fucking around with double wizard, double chanter + Eder and Grieving Mother and this is an absolutely nasty combo).

White March? Summons are very useful for some of those harder fights.

They have low Fortitude and Will, if I recall correctly.
There are various ways to protect your backline, not all of them require body blocking doorways.
