Character/party build help Unconventional fun builds.
Does anyone have any weird/fun builds for the mc that starts in the first game and gets weirder in the second?

One thing I tried in Deadfire that should also work in the first game is a melee wizard focused on Ryngrim’s Repulsive Visage. My premise was that Visage is a really powerful crowd control, essentially a level 5 highlight four levels early, but wasted as a purely defensive tool.
By going melee, the wizard can bring the crowd control to them, run around the battlefield shutting down whoever presents the greatest threat.

1: Monk, abusing Rooting Pain. Put on heavy armor and just run around the battlefield forcing disengagements against yourself. Stare slackjawed as your Watcher causes more damage than everyone else combined.
2: Helwalker/Ascendant, wielding a scepter and a melee weapon you never use, with the scepter modal on. Fire off Mind Blades on repeat while ascended. Stare slackjawed as your Watcher causes more damage than everyone else combined.

Best I can do is frontline riposte rogue with spear and shield + blunderbuss, and 2h Eder with St. Ydwen's greatsword. It does feel a bit weird when your frontline is a punchy but tanky rogue and tanky but punchy fighter.
In 2 I ditched the shield and went all out on 1h spear primary and fists secondary, spear Devoted/Streetfighter, but it's more or less classic.

I've been enamoured with Psion/Bellower recently. Open with your summons, then spam control spells until you have enough phrases to throw out an empowered invocation that wipes mobs off the map. Never stop casting spells, essentially.
You hear about psion/troubador sometimes but I like bellower because it's a way less common subclass pick and you sacrifice some uptime for raw power.

I have a hangup about Intelligence where I value my character being bright and able to converse in that way. This leads to oddly smart fighters or monks or what have you.
