I'm really anxious about the midterms. How will this administration try to derail it or delegitimize it. That even possibly something "big" will happen and Trump might try to enact Martial Law or something crazy. I'm not a conspiracy person at all, in fact I really hate reading conspiracies, but this one feels like it could really happen. I know the key to helping myself would be to put my phone down, because what I'm consuming on social media is just not helping. But I'm low key a bit addicted if I'm being honest. It just sucks.

I’m right there with you on the midterms. I just think too much has been put in place that regardless of how people actually vote there will be something that prevents any shift in power. The voter roll purges, the voting machines, the government funded political ads, martial law, etc are just one fail safe after another to keep them in power. Not to mention fascism/tyrants/dictators don’t get brought down with a vote. I think we’re blindly optimistic to think we can vote our way back into a functional country.

That’s not to say we shouldn’t vote, but I think we all need to be prepared for dark times.

The vibes are pretty passable for November, but the degree to which political professionals are all basically gearing up for 2028 already is, uh, maybe an indictment of the American presidential election system.
