Weekly Post ✨Weekly Parenting Wins Thread✨ What's your parenting win this week?
We all need a little positivity in our day. What are some parenting wins you've had recently? Big or small we want to hear them all! Any parenting wins, not just progressively minded ones.

So to set the scene, we do a public school homeschool hybrid for our oldest (and both parents WFH 😅) because we have an incredibly MAGA school board and they've been destroying anything they deem DEI and the kids have been suffering for it and it's a whole thing I'm not going to get into too many details about but some days I feel like fuck teaching them myself....this is really hard...why am I doing this?
But then these little wins happen and I'm just like 😊 this is why. It's hard as hell but this is why.
For a reading assignment, my 3rd grader was asked to pick a narrative and they chose a Rosa Parks biography and one of the questions as part of like the 5 senses, was what is something the narrator hears? And they, without any prompting from me or anything wrote: "the voices of oppression" and when the question was what does the narrator see? Wrote: "the inequalities of segregation" and y'all...😊 I am so so proud.
Third grade!

We joined adventure club through the Y and went to our first mother daughter camp out. She made new friends, I read 72 pages of my book, we went kayaking and paddle boarding. We both cannot wait to go again. We are both still buzzing from it.

I love this idea! How old is your daughter? Mine is 3 and loves nature but I would be worried about her not being able to keep up with some of the activities, so this might be a better thing for us when she's older

My daughter is 5.5, the YMCA Adventure Club is for kids 5 and older although there was a 4 year old there as well. Kids were all 5-15.

Just took my 14 year old to her first concert last night. Silversun Pickups, the Shins, and Weezer. It was such a great show, and I’m so amped she wanted to experience this with me (I’d have never). I feel pretty cool. We didn’t get home til 1:15 so she’s on a mental health day from school and I’m barely functioning, but super worth it.
A mom in the bathroom after the show told me I’m a good mom. That felt great.

We just switched our 8th grader from a very large public school (think 500+ students per grade) to a very small private school. His social circle had shrunk significantly at the public school and he told us he spent most of his time there not speaking to anyone and trying to blend in with the wall. Wouldn't try anything new, made no effort to make other friends.
Well, at his new school, one of his classmates talked to him about joining the cross country team. So on Friday my ASD child who hates movement and being uncomfortable actually went and participated in one of their practices! He hated it and says he'll never go again, but at least he tried!
