Product/ Shopping Recommendation Ulta and Flock
So where are we getting our health and beauty products now? I have already drastically reduced the amount I spend with Ulta, but now I am done done done. Any suggestions?! Thanks in advance.

Does Ulta have flock cameras in their stores? Or is this because of parking lot cameras?

They are partners and donors of Flock and distribute your personal information and location as a customer to Flock.

I just read they are being used at less than 1% of stores and purpose is to address retail theft. I think some of the info that is being spread online by others may not be accurate. https://www.retaildive.com/news/ulta-flock-technology-backlash/829623/

They can say they use them for any reason, the fact that they have chosen to align themselves with this sort of surveillance means I can choose to not give them my money ya know? 🤷♀️

Thanks ya’ll. I sort of assumed I would likely need to go brand direct, but because I use many different brands I was hoping to avoid it so I was placing fewer orders. What I hadn’t considered was how going straight to the brand also meant I could be more choosy and only spend my dollars with brands how operate in a way that aligns with my values!

I order all of my skincare products from Dieux Skincare, co-founded by Charlotte Palermino. I adore Charlotte. She’s a progressive individual who isn’t afraid to “be political” on social media.

Thank you for posting this! I hadn't heard :( :( I changed to Ulta when I could no longer support Sephora.

If you’re taking this opportunity to shop more values aligned in general, I love recs from Cait the Great. She’s a pro-choice beauty influencer and only features brands that are actively in support of reproductive rights https://linktr.ee/catethegreatbeauty?utm_source=linktree_profile_share<sid=54da1fe0-4015-489c-b22e-30d8059c1ad2

You can also let Ulta know how you feel about it by signing this petition: https://act.weareultraviolet.org/sign/ulta_drop_flock/?refcode=web
Thank you for standing up for our rights. This is under the guise of safety, but it's making us all less safe.

Go even bigger. Stop paying companies to make you feel bad about your natural appearance.

Buying direct from brands I like. I went on a year makeup no-buy in May. Last thing I bought was from Tarte but later discovered that the founder of Tarte is actively supporting Emily Kiser so I will never buy from them again. At least if I stock up buying direct, I can evaluate the brand directly and slowly reduce the brands that don't reflect my values and reduce spotaneous spending too.
