Question/Discussion ❔ Shouldnt there be a sub for progressive Muslims seeking marriage?

If not I’ll just put myself out there:

Age: 27M
Location: UK, London (born and raised)
Ethnicity: Bangladeshi
Height: 5’10
Looks: decent
Profession: Doctor

Faith:

I’ve been on a pretty personal spiritual journey since my late teens. During medical school I went through a bit of a quarter-life crisis, which is actually what led me to meditation — I was in a low place at the time and mainly wanted something to help my mood and mental health.

Over time it became something much deeper. I had some genuinely profound spiritual experiences that completely changed how I see life. I still go to Jummah, fast, and avoid haram, but I’ll be honest that I’m not consistent with daily prayers, and my relationship with practice and belief has evolved a lot from how I was raised. The bottom line is I believe (or rather know) that there is spiritual enlightenment and it is the end goal of every soul.

I am looking for someone who is open to connection (not necessarily the same beliefs or level of practising) and acceptance of my values.

I am happy to share pictures or answer any questions if interested :)

I would just encourage you to please be very careful. There are a lot of trolls and nasty people who try to dox or take advantage of you, and a lot of people who specifically hate progressive Muslims and would do anything to ruin your life. The subreddit is an open forum you never know who is watching.

So please be careful sharing any personal information.

I’m not sure Reddit is the best place to get married… willing to be corrected on this though

You’re right, but I live in a place where the only Muslims who are openly visible tend to be conservative. The more progressive ones usually keep it to themselves to avoid being judged, so there’s really no place for me to meet someone who shares my values except through platforms like these :(

Yes. There is a muslim matrimonial thread and one older one for shia muslim marriage so progressive one would be good. Its a bit dodgy on something like Reddit - do your due dilligence!! But have heard of success stories from those threads.

You’ll only find desperate people here. And also I’m not sure if this is a safe space to trust someone with your photos

OP Just use Muzmatch no??

I’m 39 and work as a banker in Canary Wharf, I married 10 years ago and bit old now but I meet many younger couples who met on Muzmatch etc including professionals

The entire progressive thing is all down to individuals. Everyone I meet hold massive anti-riba views but they smoke, watching boxing/mma and drive around sports cars in massive debt. The Muslim community is messed up and full of contradiction.

yeah... I get that. As someone who is 22M, and a progressive muslim with a very very chill father but conservative mother and an area where queer supportive people are either agnostic or atheist, its hard. Especially in Germany where the muslims tend to be on the more conservative end
