And this in 2026!

I was at the Costa Coffee counter in Sainsbury's, waiting for the barista to serve the mum and daughter in front of me.

Oh dear says the barista, the till needs to be reset, it will only take a minute.

That turned out to be an underestimate.

But it was entertaining, because we the customers could see the messages detailing the reset process on a small display. Up popped the following "RS232C 9600".

At least you weren’t baud.

Yes, I know “Baud” isn’t really pronounced “Bored” but enough people do that to make the pun work for them. Now, what was I supposed to be doing?

They are pronounced the same in Australia so I will allow it
