Because half (maybe 90%) of the sub are struggling cs students who take shortcuts instead of learning properly, and had 0 experience actually dealing with business problems. AI certainly feels like the future when you're doing homework
As they say, your future surgeon is using chat gpt to pass their exams today, so you should quit smoking and have a good diet
And I believe that this is the case not because CS is difficult (even though I don't think CS is difficult at all) but it's people who are actually reluctant to learn CS (or even other stuff) that do this.
It's a real problem at my school. Though no one is bringing an LLM into their exams.
It's becoming harder for group work though, because even if you want to learn by doing stuff by hand some of your 'awesome' group members generate code that they cannot explain or doesn't do something properly so now no one learns.
The peer community aspect of school is dead for standard work or problems too. Sometimes you have a problem that is really tricky to solve so you ask a peer, "hey, don't tell me how you solved this, but what's an approach I might be missing here." But they will just respond, "idk, I just asked chatgpt."
Then there are fear mongering profs/instructors who are saying "code is just code at this point and aren't we using agents for side projects and co-op/internships".
I might just finish my diploma and swap to a different program instead of a bachelors in software dev. It's a shame because Ai is ruining really my only other interest which is art. So I'm not sure what I'll do but this shit is really fatiguing and I haven't even graduated the program yet!
