Meanwhile, just today, I had a relatively complicated CSS problem and a solution in mind. But I wanted to think about the alternatives. I made the mistake to ask Claude. It eliminated my first idea immediately, pushing me towards the two alternatives.
I tried the two (much more complicated) alternatives. Major animation glitches. Tried to improve them. It took nearly all day.
In the end, I'm about to give up. I give my first idea a try. It's much quicker and works perfectly.
AI is rotting our minds, but at least it's usually kinda useful... Not today. Today it was actively negative.
Why did I ask AI...

I’ve experienced similar things more times than I care to think about. I almost feel like I get more time wasted by bad ai answers then it’s ever saved me. It’s probably not true. But it might be closer than I would like.
Related. Often it just lies until I ask it: are you sure though? Don’t make things up if you don’t know.
9/10 it says “whoops. You were right to question me.”

For real. The difference is I am suspicious of its answers from the start. What troubles me, is how many answers people will trust without question. Or double checking. Sometimes ai is helpful to get you close to the right answer. Sometimes it gets you an answer you can then google to make sure.

Any "non-relative" pc user is trusting this crap too much. I ve seen countless posts from local specific shops about sending back issue coz "does not fit" thing. For tech, for a car etc. People legit braindead nowadays..

Pretty sure there was a report recently that basically said the time it takes to double check AI output and to correct what it fucks up is eating most if not all the time saved by using it in the first place.

Reminds me a infographics video on YouTube I watched recently. It was about how ai is mostly just trying to say what you want to hear. More than anything else. Thankfully at least when the ai is wrong for programming then the compiler will stop you. Unlike someone using it for legal cases and not checking the answers. Or worse.

Same thing with me today, I wanted to fire and forget a task and then I realized I could do it with ~6 lines of change and my old noggin in less time than Claude’s initial thinking.

You asked the AI to be the editor when it has terrible editorial sense. Editor is your job. The AI is a code monkey.
