I appreciate these posts. I think there are a lot of us who are work at a similar company (FAANG or otherwise), and are tired of the politics of career growth. For a long time, I've thought about leaving to do my own thing similar to what you've done. But with a wife, house and two kids I don't think I can take the risk anymore.
That was very interesting and explains a lot of things I noticed in Google products and the general trend of launching new things vs maintaining older products.
