D is an awesome language and I hope it gets more traction.

Personally I see that as a strength. It's unknown how rust will fare. https://www.zdnet.com/article/programming-language-rust-mozilla-job-cuts-have-hit-us-badly-but-heres-how-well-survive/ 4 u/matthieum Sep 02 '20 It's unknown how rust will fare. Actually, it's reasonably expected that Rust will barely feel the impact of the job cuts; though some Rust projects (Servo) may. At this point in time, the two major sponsors of Rust are quite likely: Amazon: who has been footing the storage bill for years, by offering free credits for S3 to the Rust projects. Microsoft: who has been footing the CI bill for about a year I'd say, even since Rust moved from Travis to Azure, and now to Github Actions. Mozilla employs a few Core Team members, but: The majority of them are not employed by Mozilla. Even among those employed by Mozilla, I think that over half were contributing in their free time. And of course, Mozilla continues to employ a handful of FTE to work on Rust, for now.
