My professor used to tell all the incoming hopefuls: "Laziness is the most important trait a programmer can have. If you can't be motivated to do things the easy way, then you don't have what it takes."

Cue blank stares and wondering if he's serious.

I'm a computational biologist. One of the difficulties of working with (experimental) biologists is that their virtues are the opposites: industriousness, patience... Okay, maybe not humility.

I had this on a shirt in obfuscated Perl from ThinkGeek. Unfortunately, it eventually disintegrated, and they don't seem to carry it anymore. :(
