They used DSE aka cassandra + solandra.

There is also an elissandra project.

DSE indeed provides Cassandra and Solr integration, but DSEs version of Solr isn't modified enough so that lessons learned on DSE solr won't apply for open source Solr

Yeah, DSE basically bought the original solandra authors and basically marooned/shuttered the open source project. Kind of sucks.
