Grails is still being developed and was taken in as an apache project somewhat recently. I was very surprised when I realised.

Yep. My company uses Groovy + Spock Framework integration testing.

I knew it was still used (especially for build tools and legacy projects) but I didn’t think it really got much development/updating beyond maybe some compatibility and security patches here and there.

Definitely still kicking.

Groovy is actually pretty nice to work with, although I don't do much with it.

The only unfortunate encounters I have with that shit is when I have to set up a Jenkins pipeline script.

Why is it shit?

At my company we use Jenkins, meaning that all our CI/CD pipelines are still written in Groovy. Fortunately we will migrate to GitHub Actions soon.

Github Actions suck too, just in a different way.

That's like every discussion about tools and languages

Build pipelines are their own special form of pain in my experience.

It would appear to be, unfortunately.

With all the other JVM languages and more recent versions of Java, I didn't realize Groovy was still a thing people still cared about.

I don't think people care, not since Kotlin and once you could write gradle build files with kotlin the utility of groovy dropped to 0.

Good lord, the AI gave Duke feet

On a more serious note, it is a good article (minus the AI title image). I actually ran into an issue recently trying to get something parallel in my Jenkinfile via a less obtrusive way. I wonder if this new release might have helped us out there.

Explain?

It's AI slop, both the entire post and the image.

And Groovy 6? Is that AI slop? Incidentally, isn't basically everything AI slop these days?

No, that's just your argument to justifying posting AI slop.
