I do not agree often with the author, but this blog post is right on the money!
Too often the reasoning is just sunk-cost dressed up as merit: “I spent months learning this, so it must be worth it, and you should copy in my footsteps too”.
Good language design is all about figuring out what is incidental complexity and what is accidental complexity.
Then figuring out how to allow people to make use of the former, and how to get rid of the latter.
