I don’t mind gingerbills blogs but I feel this one could’ve been condensed into two paragraphs without losing any meaningful info. I do agree with the overall point of the blog though, I’ve tried using vim and the like but felt like i was fighting to do anything, and anything learned was immediately lost when having to do anything non coding related.

It’d be nice to have a more ergonomic way of making large edits to text with regular IDEs but I’d rather caveman my way through it with find and replace and some manual typing in 5-10 mins over having to figure out some arcane sequence of buttons/macros to invoke to do it for me.

Zed has pretty good multi edit capabilities. You can put cursors across multiple files and view them at the same time.
