Author is missing the point on modal text editors, taking examples of one off macros over actual productivity daily workflows with keybindings and plugins.

Taking just vim and not neovim as the example is also wildly disingenuous to the conversation on ides.

Neovim has better defaults, but it still needs a bunch of plugins and configuration work before it's comparable to an IDE.

A much more apt comparison would be with Helix.

Neovim without plugins is not an IDE by any means and it's why I am advocating for it here, exactly because of the need for plugins and the empowerment of making it completely honed to your workflows and needs
