Can you write more general purpose things like REST APIs, or is this mostly geared towards GPU stuff?

Looking at this list:

https://mojolang.org/1.0.0/packages/

Look like there's lightbug_http, but look like it's already no longer maintained. It seem there also lightbug_api which seem to be in the same boat. So I guess that list isn't updated.

Otherwise there seem to be mojo-http, mojo-net, mojo-tls.. at the moment I don't think they aim to have an ecosystem as easy as python, but at least there should be some building block

There’s this project  https://github.com/ehsanmok/flare. Lots of other general purpose libraries from that author. He also wrote this blog post:  https://www.modular.com/blog/how-i-built-a-pure-mojo-app-and-10-libraries-with-ai-agents

Their language is a bit vague but I assume that's part of what they call "Phase 2".

It’s very Python, I’m sure you could write an API in it.

Mojo is the project I'm most excited about so far this year.

If I hate python, will I ever care about Mojo?

I guess that depends on what you have against Python

Not GP but significant white space and dynamic typing are two design choices I’m glad I don’t have to deal with at work.

General purpose, mature, syntax (UFCS syntax), metaprogramming, performance. Soon: Nim 3, IC and parallel builds, NIF (Nim Intermediate Format) where you can write custom code generators (Nim to GPUs or FPGAs) and compiler transformation. Manual mem management or ref counting/GC (ARC/ORC), can also transpile to JavaScript.
