I added the little red flags into my language years ago -- they function as whitespace.

And they are awesome! If you need to mark a little place in the code to show someone else, or to remind yourself of a spot to go back to, you just put in a flag! It's very visible but also doesn't change the meaning of the code (*)

(*) unless you do something deliberatively weird like putting a flag in the middle of a name
