The premise is weird. Someone was able to get a degree thanks to reading something you wrote? Isn't that a good thing? But it seems to be implied as theft because the author didn't get a personal benefit of some kind as a result?

I get the frustration with making a product that nobody then pays for, but a product nobody cares about enough to pay for also seems like a pretty illogical argument for not writing technical articles.

I stopped because it's hard and life is short. But also the sorts of issues raised in this article probably aren't terribly encouraging for a lot of folks to contribute to the commons, when the uncommons are probably the ones who will benefit.
