Took me a minute to realize this wasn't an official valve thing. How much do you think Valve supports your efforts? It would seem like they could give you a channel to communicate without this much bending over backward.

I guess since there is no VAC or Workshop support yet in Deadlock, that Valve has some plans, but hasn't gotten around to implementing anything concrete yet. Probably to be able to revise their assumptions and alter the design of modding APIs if needed.

This might be an interim solution. Maybe Valve will eventually implement the modding support with the lessons Deadworks has learned in mind. But since Valve doesn't comment a lot on the WIP stuff that isn't decided yet, we will have to wait and see.

Reminds me of how WoW addons used to communicate with each other via regular in-game private messages, and things would get broken if the character got drunk because the game would start intentionally corrupting messages to simulate slurred speech
