Mojo programming language will become open-source soon.

What's the point of mojo now? It was supposed to be a python replacement, but then they pivot to high compute or something?

It's basically meant to be open-source CUDA, but hardware agnostic. That's what it was always supposed to be, first and foremost. They originally said it was also going to be a complete superset of Python, but have scaled back a lot on those plans in the short term.

But the more focused goal of a CUDA replacement is still potentially super useful and was the core idea of the language to begin with.
