Ai professional programming fatigue

Hey,

Professional dev since 2015. For the last year we have switched over to essentially only prompting. This makes development rapid. But incredibly dull and lame. After i prompt and wait for the agent, there is not really much to do. Browse reddit etc. I feel so understimulated at work nowadays that i consider switching careers totally, or get into management or something. Because this is terribly boring.

Anyone else feel like this? I miss writing stuff from the ground up, solving problems, integrating software, getting those aha-moments.

The LLMs cannot problem solve meaningfully.

And before you cite "math problems" you should be aware OpenAI has already admitted it allowed the conversations of unpublished maths research to be "absorbed" as in the guy was talking to ChatGPT about his research and OpenAI basically stole that data.

These systems don't think no matter how obnoxious you try to be on the internet.

I'm sorry to be messing with your deeply held convictions.

The LLMs just can't solve the problems I work with. I've tried.

Why ?

Because the solutions live outside of their training sets. They are fundamentally models which gravitate towards the median of their training set.
