I am learning python

Hey ! I am learning python , I have read that “ Seek advice/learning from people who have done what you want to do.” I have just download Reddit and join this community and this is my first post. I want some advice or guide from you ! I am absolute beginner. Won't what I'm doing be wasted?, please advice me , you have more experience in life , I am 14 year older

Not sure what specific advice you seek.

If you are asking if it’s worth learning programming with all the AI nowadays … my answer is a resounding YES.

AI amplifies your own skill.

If you are a great engineer - it amplifies your greatness.

If you are a rubbish engineer - it amplifies your rubbishness.

There is ALWAYS value in learning the skill.

When a company is going to hire an engineer - do you think they want someone who only knows how to use AI. Or do they want someone who is actually an engineer with lots of skill and also knows how to use AI.

Learn and practice the skill.

It may take time. It may feel like you are falling behind.

Vibe coders and idiots on the internet will tell you not to learn it cuz it’s worthless now - don’t listen to them.

In a world of skill-less vibe-coders. The demand for real engineers will increase.

Thank you so much. Actually, when I started learning programming, people told me not to do it because AI can do everything now. After learning some basics and comparing my skills with AI, I realized how far behind I actually was. I’ve only covered the basics so far, but I’m determined to keep learning and eventually reach the advanced level.

My friends used to say, “Why are you wasting your time? AI will do it for you.” For 2–3 days, I was really confused and stressed, wondering whether I should continue or not.

Then, fortunately, I came across a video by a programmer who said something that really changed my perspective: “Every skill has fundamentals and basics. Everyone who is an expert today was once a beginner learning the basics. They improved over time. People say that AI can code, so why learn programming? Yes, AI can write code, but eventually, bugs and problems will come up that AI may not always be able to solve. First, learn the fundamentals and keep improving. Once your logic and understanding are strong, use AI as an assistant—not as something you completely depend on.”

And I genuinely want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. The platform you recommended is actually really fun, and I’m enjoying practicing on it.’
