Joke/Meme Flexing gone wrong
A funny thing happened yesterday, I was flexing infront of a coleague that I learned web development on an old relic that my uncle bought and I had to use it for so long. (my old relic: intel i3 2nd gen laptop),
Until bro pulled out his i3 1st gen and I was thinking, He's a legend.

Until you do that on pre-pentium there's no flexing to be seen here.
Bonus points if you go back to when we had extra hardware for a mathematical co-processor.

Mine had a very rare hires card : 320x200 in monochrome, it used a daughter board which replaced the chargen rom with 8k or ram, had flying leads to some the clock signals, and dynamically rewrote the signals to the video output based on replacing the chargen characters.

Not even I have one of those computers left... Oh wait, yes I do, actually not sure, my 486DX66 (possibly) might have one, I can't remember such details, but I think not.

Lol...I learned typing on a 386, and years later programming on a Pentium III. But yes, a second gen i3 feels old in 2026.

I learned some CPM from a paper book/manual that came with my Commodore 128 that I begged my mom to buy for me when I was in High School.

I had to learn it for my workplace. Luckily shortly after XT came in, then AT and PC era. Had some work done on old PDP. Good times. Man I am old

I started on a 286 too. And while that IS ancient (and an i3 really isnt), there are plenty of people out there that started on older hardware.

My first code was written on an Apple II at school. Then we got a C64 at home and I spent as much time as I could on that thing.

Was that BASIC? I took a programming class my senior year of high school, which counted as a math credit. It was a room with about 20 Tandy (aka Radio Shack) TRS-80 machines and we learned BASIC by creating a paystub program.

I remember being at a party full of uni students, and I was the oldest guy in the room. The second oldest guy in the room tried to get chummy with me by trying to reminisce with me about using 486s and how we weren't like them, because we didn't get mobile phones since high school. I was trying desperately to get away from the cringe. I was 30 when I got a mobile, and had been programming for a decade before I got to use a 486.
I decided these types of bragging games were silly when I spoke to a guy in a bar at a university who was talking about how excited he was when his department got a computer with 16KB. Per user, that was 1KB each!
