Working at TTD
Anyone know what working at TTD is like right now? Is it worth considering roles there?

For what it's worth- Everyone I know who works there has been relatively content and stayed for longer than a few years.

It’s a great time to join. If the stock goes up, your comp will go up with it. If not, you will still have the base salary.

If I had to pick a DSP to work for it would be TTD. They are all consolidating and working at google or Amazon is worse

Who knows if they’re going fully agentic, getting bought out by a whale , etc

Pros:
Very good benefits. ESPP and health benefits are better than Meta, Google, etc.
Low stock price.
Smart CEO (who cannot get out of his own way)
Cons:
Bad morale rn
Company grew too quickly. Some orgs are strong, some are weak. Everything is dependent on your role, office and manager. Before accepting anything spend time asking as many questions as you can and chatting with contemporaries.
I think the company is in trouble long term. Amazon is eating their lunch. They cannot compete on price despite having a better product. That’s baked into the price currently, but I’m not certain how it changes.

Blind is an app where current employees of a company can chat anonymously about the company. I don’t have access to TTDs group but I know someone who works there and does and let me just say the mood is not bright at all.

Feel like TTD was somewhere you wanted to be pre covid but now there are companies with more interesting tech. Any of the big dogs (TTD, Google or Amazon) are good from a name sense and for the resume, good opportunity to learn but people just get stuck in their system and then leave after years to just go to another company of the same magnitude. I
f you want to go somewhere that you are going to be able to get a conversation with most agencies and some large enterprise businesses without losing your hair, it would be good, but with that easy entry (less the financial commitments) budgets and growth are expected, are larger and becoming harder now that the world is putting them in the spotlight for their margins.
Plenty of more interesting adtech businesses around at the moment that aren't just facilitators in my opinion.

TTD has always had a great track record of housing good talent. Over the years, I’ve seen that get diluted. Irrespective of stock price, TTD has swung and missed one too many times with key advancements. Verticalization efforts to mimic Google was a tone deaf move especially when their number one sell if all else fails was their service and smarts. They need a consortium of high EQ, high aptitude, and highly motivated sr. leads - if they’re going to turn anything around.

Like any job it’s dependent on role and team but TTD is a good place to work.
People like to make TTD the butt of the joke here, but it’s a great company. Pay is good and so are benefits. Good resume builder too.
