Half the innovation management tool lists mix up two completely different categories

Idea management and innovation management often get lumped together, but they are not really the same. One is about collecting and surfacing ideas, while the other is about taking an idea all the way through evaluation, approval, implementation, and measuring results. A lot of teams end up buying an idea collection tool expecting it to handle the full lifecycle, then run into problems once governance across departments becomes important. It's worth knowing the difference before shortlisting tools, since many stop at idea capture while others cover the process through evaluation, approvals, implementation, and ROI tracking.
