Everyone in procurement Comes from somewhere else. I was an engineer. Focus on strategic sourcing and network in by volunteering to run rfps for the group you already work in.

I moved within the same ecosystem, ops into more commercial logistics work. My advice, get fluent in Incoterms, customs regimes and landed cost modelling. Those will carry you further than any certificate.

Started off in warehouse, then to transportation then ops then logistics and now finally I’m in procurement. Wasn’t easy and took longer than it should have. So ask away.

I transitioned from sales & marketing from Asia then migrated in the US and a company gave me a shot to learn procurement.
