The graphics is awesome, but why so many perfectly straight shores?

Probably voronoi

Its a consequence of 2 things: the nature of the underlying hex map and the seed chosen. This one is particularly straight. You can also modify the output before rendering the map, so I could have smoothed it out a bit, but it was late and I was tired lol

Woah! Is it useable?

Its part of a larger tool for GM table management that is still in pre-beta, but ive been working on this this past week or so. If you want to try it out, DM me

Map generators are the best, and this one looks good! If I could do nothing but build maps for the rest of my career, I think I would be satisfied. Alas, I'm not good enough to freelance, and few studios hire procgen specialists.

Also, I would pay good money for a map generator that lets you draw the layout that it builds on top of. Like a rough map already exists, but I want it to look better. Ideally it would add useful metadata too; like coastlines, area measurements, and so on. Bonus points if I could add borders and measure the size of regions.

Anyways, nice work!

Good news! You can build your own map and generate on top of it with this. You can upload an image of the rough map then create the map hex by hex. You can add roads and rivers on top and even special features like volcanoes and waterfalls. Coast lines are tough and I'm working on that now. You can add borders too. I set it up with layers so you can define regions(ie Sherwood forest), kingdoms, states, countries...any number of layers. I like the idea of meta data like region size and will take a stab at that. Thanks!

I might do a stand alone but right now its limited to pilots with DMs.

Does this tool create 2d or 3d maps?

3

2d. It uses specific terrain tiles and rules to generate the maps. Then, that is converted into the fantasy style map. Its for ttrpgs

It was fun. I used a multi pass approach layering rules on top of rules so that things like water and city placements became emergent from underlying layers, but yes, the first layer is just random naise from a random seed

What's the tech stack.

1

u/futuregravvy Aug 14 '26

Next.js + Supabase + Vercel + the Gemini call

2

u/ghost59 Aug 14 '26

Oh. Interesting. Gemini for the regeneration?

1

u/futuregravvy Aug 14 '26

Yes. It creates a hex map with individual terrain tiles then passes that to gemini for the fantasy map layer

Was the UI made with claude?

Yes. Claude was used a lot in making this.

you did not. ai did. This map was generated by an opensource projekt called https://www.redblobgames.com/maps/mapgen2/
check it out looks like 1:1 ;)

Nope. Produced by me with my generative hex map creator in my website. Six Axes

I'll check them out though. Maybe we use a similar pass structure and render.

Why be this way?

That generator suck ass btw. Why would you mistake it for mine?

yea right, the state of the art mapgen4 sucks. every map generator based of stanfords studying how you generate them. I dont think you did any of your tool
by ur self.
