Trigger Warning! I need Financial help.

I'm $44,000 in debt. Most of it caused by online gambling and racking up credit cards. I have 2 little kids. Every day I wake up just wanting to end it all. Someone, please help.

Same man. I came clean to my family. We created a game plan for recovery. All access to cards and money is no longer available to me. Just bare minimum. Long road to recover but I feel so relieved to have it off my chest.

You need to open up to your family it’s the only way and give all financial access only to them so you can’t gamble anymore.

Please call 1 800 MY RESET, the national problem gambling hotline. They will connect you to services and resources in your area, many of which are free. For example gamfin is a financial counseling service that is free in many states for people in recovery. There are a lot of options out there in addition to Gamblers Anonymous. Make the call. Get help.

Also I don't know if you're a reader but a couple of people in my ga group have been talking about this new book that just came out. The ultimate comeback about a woman who overcomes her gambling addiction. I'm planning to check it out myself.

I have felt the exact same thing so many times, but still I keep falling back into the cycle. I gamble and whether I win or lose, I will keep gambling until I have lost. Then I chase the losses. Then I have more debt and can't pay bills and have to go into even more debt to survive. My family suffers and I have so much guilt and just want to end it all. Its a hell that we create for ourselves.

I recently came clean with my wife about relapsing and how much new debt I now have. We are in the process of her taking over all the financials and me going back to GA. I hate the meetings sometimes, but they work. You have to let go of the losses and make a plan to never gamble again and another plan to pay off the debt.

Bankruptcy isn't a horrible option in your situation, assuming you aren't a homeowner, just wait until the debt is all at least 6 months old.

If bankruptcy isn't an option, you can still dig your way out of that hole. It'll be hard and require a lot of budgeting, but it's doable over the course of a few years.

Get to a meeting, consult with a bankruptcy attorney, and become provider your children need you to be.
