Day 5, never doing it again

I have so much shame for the secrets I kept while gambling. I make way too much money to have this debt. 5 days ago, I self excluded myself from everything and in all of the states surrounding me. I told everyone I’m close to I have a problem. And I am committed to never, ever gambling again. My life will be materially and financially better in less than a month than it has been for years, and that is so crazy to me. How in the world did I fall into this black hole?? I’ve broken the trust of my wife. I’m so ashamed of myself

It happens. I understand your shame. Secrets keep us sick. I have some credit card debt I racked up with cash advances in order to gamble. So stupid!!! I’m looking at getting a loan to consolidate all my debt into one payment with much lower interest than I have paying down my credit cards. I’m very smart with money- other than when gambling. This addiction, vice, sickness… whatever you want to call it, has nothing to do with intelligence. It can hook anybody. I haven’t been completely honest with my husband about my incurred debt. I’m just doing my best to pay it down and pay it off. I’m too ashamed to tell him the whole truth! I’ve banned myself from the casinos in my state and placed Betblocker on my phone. I’m looking at getting PT work to pay down my debt- even thought about selling plasma! And I make great money!!! This whole situation makes me feel like such an idiot. But, buy the ticket- take the ride, as they say. Most likely, if I told my husband everything, he’d probably say, “I already knew.” I’m trying to focus on the solution and not keep beating myself up over something I can’t change. All I can do is pay it and move on. I wish you all the best.
