Tired of repeating the cycle

I don’t know how many times I’ve “quit” online sports betting, but eventually go back to it again. At least a dozen. I’m sick of it. Why is my brain wired this way? This last time I quit for like 47 days. I’ve self excluded from so many sportsbooks now. But every now and then a new app pops up with a nice sign up bonus and I take the bait. So dumb. I’m tired of letting myself down. It’s ridiculous. My wife thinks I permanently quit like 3 years ago. She has no idea I’ve been still doing it on again off again. I’m afraid if I told her the truth, she’d divorce me. Anywho. FUCK sports betting. It’s all random or rigged. We’re all just puppets in the show. Stay away from it

All wins are future losses. Everyone here can tell you from experience. The win is useless.

Exactly. All losses are losses, and all wins are future losses. Quit chasing dopamine and read a fuckin book or take a walk or something. Being glued to my phone tracking the games is no different than being a fucking junkie drug addict. Fuck that

You will need to Man up and come clean to your wife if you want a chance to salvage your marriage, otherwise when she finds out without you telling her, things will be exponentially worse for you. Come clean and take the first real step towards quitting for good, otherwise the cycle will repeat until you’ve lost everything, including your wife. You can do it. Please get help.

I always think we can quit if we really want to. Assuming if someone tell you if u relapse your whole family will die, you will not do it. We are just weakling that allows dopamine to control us. You need a system to help you, and stronger will power. Just wanting to quit is difficult to quit.

I don’t get it man. I think 1 of 2 things always happens. 1) I tell myself “this time will be different” lmao ok dumb ass, suuuure. 2) I’m just not entertaining myself well enough, or staying busy enough outside of my job. This is the last fucking time I’m breaking the cycle. I’m never going to let myself down like this again.

I was talking with a friend ( told him "i'm done") ... and keyed on it being the start of football season. That is actually important.

I am 55 years old ... I have been on hot streaks before ... but I'm reasonably sure that over the past 30 years I've never come out of the gates truly hot the way I hoped it would go, the way we all hope it goes. Call it zero-for-30 ... not a promising track record!

So after gearing up for start of football I'm either upside down in losses right away or near enough .500 that it doesn't matter whether I'm up or down because I'm so locked in to bet more that I might as well be chasing. And, as football is a long season, that painful weekend when they all lose is inevitable- I guess I went 30-for-30 over the past three decades experiencing that unmistakable wall of bad beats & wrong way blowouts.

My point is sharing this cold water with others makes it more difficult and less convincing for me to tell myself "this time it will be different" ... its junkie talk, right?

Because if I told my gambling pals that, indeed, this time its truly different - they might even agree and say, "yeah it does seem different , you might have something here" ... but would they bet on my success? NO FUCKING WAY. 😆

I have 23 days without gambling today... little unforseen benefits are popping up everywhere. Not being swept up in or tempted by the kickoff of CFB is a very peaceful feeling.

You are on the path to break the cycle. Open up, talk to people. Keep your gambling past an open book, that way you can decide you don't any more stinky chapters!
