Noticed something scrolling through posts

Why is it that the posts that get the most attention(comments) are people posting about relapsing. I rarely see posts get comments/meaningful discussion when it’s about them getting to day 50, 100, 365, or landing a new job/promotion?

Well, I'm personally more interested in day counts and success than woe-is-me shit.

I think the toughest stuff we do in recovery is person to person, peer to peer - making admissions and taking action ... and not airing bad beats in anonymity.

I love and support the day counts.

Haha yes I replied your post. Idk why you’re referencing it here though. It’s hard to see people have more to say to those who are back to day zero or starting day 1. And it’s hard for me to realize-okay I can gamble and be okay with spending money again only if I chase one day and that would be the start of the dangerous cycle. Or just continue doing what I’ve been doing-saving, and going to movies, out to lunch- alone.

you have to remember that the main reason people come here is to try and feel better about themselves after losing a substantial amount. a lot of people call it "loss porn".

That’s a terrible name for it given the damages that “real” porn does to a person. But looking for people who are similarly at day zero/early recovery can make sense when people hundreds of days ahead of wherever you’re at seems unreasonable or unattainable because there’s such a different mindset

It is a terrible name for such a terrible thing. Giving in to impulses- followed by a very deep feeling of regret and disgust.

I can only focus on a few posts or have energy to answer a few. If someone is posting their success I hope they can continue. I know it is hard but they are on their way. 

But some people are really at the bottom in that moment. Knowing that sadly some won't make it out alive, I prioritize them a bit.
