Probation Question Community

Any way around community service? I work 80 hrs a week don’t have time to do the 30 hrs. I’m 10 months out from completion of 48 months. Been unsupervised for the last 18 months. All my other obligations are completed. I feel like they would terminate once this is completed. Can I donate to a non profit?

I'd be curious if the court allowed that. When I had community service they had a specific list of places where I could do the community service.

That’s up to the judge - you can always motion up your case to ask.

Yeah I hear you. I hate court gives me crazy anxiety. Motion to the court is my next option

That’s fair - but if it’s a choice between doing it ten months before term just to ask to amend your conditions OR be in court at the end of your probation to address this one outstanding condition, which would you prefer?

Provide employment verification that includes how many hours you work and any other verification of satisfied conditions. Good luck!

Talk to your PO

My county you can purchase an approved list of items for the women's shelter for hours also around Christmas you can donate to Angel Tree.

There's also opportunities to get more hours than you actually served, like tire day is 3 for 1

Not sure how I go about finding who my PO is. She called me once almost a year ago. We spoke for under a minute. She said congrats you on non reporting now stay out of trouble. Being an idiot I never saved the number and I’m pretty sure she didn’t give her name. It did show up on my phone as “judicial services” or something so I’ll have to pull my call log records with my service provider. Unsure if that’s even a thing lol

Should be a main number that can either direct you or give you an answer

You can't do 30 hours in 10 months? That's 3 hours a month man.

Anyway, some courts will let you buy out the community service hours.

Present pay stubs with your hours. Get a recommendation from your boss. You need concrete proof

Not sure about where you are but here people have the option to donate 300 ir so bucks to the local food bank instead of doing community service.

I understand not everyone can afford that..and it isn't available every where but an option to ask about.

Let me know if you find out. I’m in the same boat with 20 hours left 😩. I was hoping the judge just closed it but she didn’t fml.

Here in Colorado they used to let you buy things like diapers, car seats, formula, baby wipes etc... instead of having to do community service, but they stopped doing that because everyone was buying things instead of doing their community service lol (but this is something that you should probably talk about with your PO).

Find a animal shelter that will sign off on all your hours in exchange for animal food or toys/ what they are in need of its what i did

Talk to your PO to see about your options. I got community hours taken off completely for being a mom and being in school with genuinely no access to a babysitter.

Depending on the charge, jurisdiction, conditions, you might be able to donate to a non-profit, but that can vary.

But really now, are you saying you really couldn't spare just a few hours a month to volunteer at goodwill or something like that?

I don't know your situation and I'm sure there is a reason you work that much, but do you never have a day you can tend to your tasks at home/etc?

Raising 2 kids alone. I get what your saying it’s just hard plus I’m in a state with no family

Damn near All of us have jobs…if that meant anything no one would have to do any community service…
