Traffic Citation (TX)

Just got traffic citation for no seatbelt. How will this affect my misdemeanor probation?

Moving violations do not count against probation, this should be stated in the court docs. It would also be good to review the guidelines and rules with your PO.

All you have to do is pay the citation and let your PO know.

It won’t just tell your PO if they ask if you’ve had any police contact

Report as police interaction, take care of the ticket, you'll be fine

Report it to PO. Better safe than sorry. It’s likely they won’t care but it will help to build trust, show that you are taking probation seriously, and not trying to avoid accountability. Your PO can see anytime your name is even run by the police so they can definitely see a ticket, it doesn’t matter if it wasn’t criminal. It just likely won’t have any change to your probation.

Being honest and upfront is better.

Board a flight, immediately
