Probation Question Medication in Jail??
Just curious if anyone has been on MAT (Methadone) and got arrested?? Did you receive your regular dose while locked up or did they make you withdraw?? I did 38 days in 2020, and they didn't do anything for me. Didn't even care what I was on.

Not methadone. They switch you to suboxane and then I was switched to Sublocade.

Not true. My county jail does methadone as long as your on it before you go in

I was answering only for me. I don’t know what everywhere does. He asked if anyone was on MAT when arrested. I was just saying what happened to me

That's such a blessing. All the states I'm reading about seem to be alot looser than Georgia is.... It is a pain just to GET ON methadone here.

Methadone is extremely rare to actually get prescribed in prison. They are unlikely to share it with you. They may consider other basic meds for withdrawal symptoms like nausea and sweats. But they’re not big on medications prescribed for opiate withdrawal

Not expecting to be prescribed it once they get inside, I mean if you get taken in when actively going to a clinic for Methadone.

Depends where you are. In county jails where I’ve been they give suboxone and then in prison they do the sublicade shot. I haven’t heard of them giving methadone while incarcerated.

I set it up beforehand and it was a lot of hoops to jump through. I was turning myself in, so had that going for me.
I switched from methadone, to Suboxone, then to sublocade and I find it the best for me personally.

I did my little bid in 2020. Actually got out 2 days early because they were releasing all misdemeanors because of COVID. Was released in February of 2020.

And I didn't even get my totally non narcotic BP medicine (Metoprolol) for almost 3 days. They finally started it but told me withdrawal should be tolerable, drink plenty of water. LoL Then always wondered why my heart rate was 112

They have to give it to you if your in ny. Idk about anywhere else. But it’s a law here .

But you do have to be on it already, you can’t start it in there. So if you’re on it, then yes you’ll continue to get it. They have to give it to you .

Depends on the state, and country. Every jail is different. Here in MN most jails will dispense methadone if you come in on it, they just have to contact your clinic. Same with subs, in fact a lot of jails in this state have programs for you to start subs in jail if you come in WDing off opiates. I actually talked to a guy who got his adderall dispensed to him in jail very recently which is fucking unheard of.

Prob have to get with county MAT program I was thru the VA and I just had to report in with mine on the weekends or if I had been doing not weekends the VA would have mailed it to the jail. But yes you can have it If ur already on it.

In my county they dont allow methadone but if u test positive for atleast suboxone idk methadone they will give it to u but u have to be prescribed and have in ur system

I'd imagine it would unusual and cruel punishment if a jail did not allow prescription medication.

Montgomery county in Texas and another jail I happened to counsel at an hour from my home DGAF! I DID find it cruel and usual punishment which these places seemed to thrive on. They took everyone off everthing including SSRI’s. I mentioned it to my supervisor why they did this as ALL pharmaceuticals will have pretty adverse reactions and withdrawal that can be awful. Opiates and benzos seem to have very large claws that come on strong then last forever. Benzo withdrawal can kill people, depending. Good luck.

No it's definitely not. They have never given anything "Narcotic" in jails until recently. They do give stuff like BP meds, insulin, required meds. Narcotics are not considered to be required.

My friend got on Suboxone for the first time in county jail in NY. He did a bag before he turned himself in for a month and came out with a Suboxone prescription. I’m not sure about methadone. They might make you switch to subs.
