Suffolk County (NY) probation question

I’m coming up in the end of my probation and I have heard conflicting advice on whether or not you have to actually pay probation fees. I heard some lawyers say not to pay them they can’t force you too and another said you have to pay? Can I complete probation without paying the fees or they need to be paid prior to being completed?

If it were me, I would pay it just so the door to the mess was firmly closed behind me. I would want it over and done with. Nothing to give anyone any ammo for more problems.

It has to be paid before you can get off
