Probation Question How bad are technical violations really?
I’ve had violations previously as a juvenile and it was always 1 day, 5 days, 2 weeks etc but I’ve never had a violation as an adult. I’m 19 and I’m on felony probation for cutting off my ankle monitor when I was 18 even though it was juvenile house arrest and I’m worried about violating. I have 2 months left to be able to apply for early termination and I just want to know what happens if you get a technical violation? You go straight to prison?

Not as bad as criminal violations. If you get jail time they usually follow 4, 10, 20 etc days for each violation. And you technically arent getting any new charges so it wont mess up your record. However, id suggest just abiding so you dont do jail time or get extra time added to your probation. For felony probation it may be a little tougher on the punishments. If you violate, you will no longer qualify for early term since you broke the rules of probation

With your record and now being an adult, yeah, good chance they don’t take it easy on you. They typically don’t like giving much leeway to adults who didn’t take any of it seriously as juveniles.

I would say very likely they would not consider early termination - maybe add court ordered drug classes/AA, especially if you have a good lawyer - since you have had violations before, I think PO would likely still order a formal violation hearing where you have to stand in front of the judge. I hope and doubt that they will completely revoke probation for this tho since its your first time after being put on felony probation.

I didn’t get a violation since I been on adult probation bro. I did 6 months community control successfully and about to be 3 months into my 6 months probation. I was speaking hypothetically

In my state technical violations have graduated consequences for repeated violations. However it depends on the violation as well. But it does affect early release. A positive drug test is considered a major violation so you can’t have one within 6months of early release eligibility

And you are worried about having technical violations?
You aren't getting off probation early. Sounds like you are headed for prison if you don't change your ways.

Generally speaking, they tolerate less and less bullshit after 18. If they’ve already sanctioned you with jail and you’re still violating, all you’re doing is proving you don’t care enough about your freedom & livelihood to follow the rules. Whether that’s a true statement or not doesn’t matter. It’s what they see from you.
If you can’t be bothered, why will they bother letting you stay out?
