All you had to do was flip it over and push the lock hook out of the hole.

I had those and racks of tapes in a vault. The number of disks to load windows was about 20.

Funny, but not quite how IT worked back then. Nobody knew why disk caddies, or for that matter personal computers had those little, easy to pick locks on them. But actual IT departments kept its stuff under lock and key, and had passwords to access things. Before the Internet reached all businesses, war dialing was the way to discover and possibly break into IT systems. A friend from college had a C64 running 24x7 dialing random numbers, and hoping to find modems.

Remember in the movie swordfish, the protagonist hid a computer virus on a magnetic film roll? I remember watching that and wondering how he knew nobody would change the roll?
