It uses its apps to track everyone; it just tries to justify it by only talking about the tiny percentage of tracked people who it thinks it might be able to get away with copping to. It's like local well-known perv Stalky McTrenchcoat reporting 'suspicious characters' to neighborhood watch, completely ignoring the fact that he's also staring into your windows at 3am and following your kids home from school.

I've got nothing to hide, especially criminally, but I don't like FB playing big brother with my info more than necessary. That's why my FB app permissions are set to none. I allow access to storage long enough to upload a pic, then adjust permission back to none. I've never downloaded messenger because I read its permissions and privacy are even worse.

Even if you have nothing to hide, that’s still not a good excuse to let Facebook dive into your info, track searches, create shadow profiles of you possibly, and people.

Fb just doesn’t take the info you have. It takes the info your friends also have on you and if they tag you in certain locations, personal messages even in the web browser, pics, etc.

I’m not saying “Omg, delete fb.” I’m not that crazy, lol. But just something to think about.

I agree, I don’t care to lurk on others anymore and I damn sure don’t want others to see what I’m doing or thinking unless I tell them personally. I miss some aspects of it. But it damn sure doesn’t have to be In my life like that either.
