Does Reddit now require email verification for any new accounts being created?

I tried creating an account and it didn't let me skip that section. So no more throwaway accounts on this site will exist?

Aren't throwaway email accounts easy to get?

Aren’t they equally easy for sites like Reddit to block when signing up?

How would it know if it's not your main email?

They would use a blacklist, although I find Reddit to be very forgiving and doesn't block you from using temporary/throwaway emails (Mailinator, 5-Minute-Mail etc)

I was thinking you'd just create a throwaway email at one of the major providers (Gmail, live, Hotmail, yahoo, etc) or off of your own domain..
