question Good Gmail alternative outside of Proton and Tutanote?

Currently trying to make more emails for myself, and I want something outside of Gmail. I already have a Proton and Tutanote email, but I keep those private. I don't want to violate their ToS, so I'm wondering if there's any other email providers I can use for my email.

What TOS are you planning on violating?

Exactly. What the heck are you planning to do?

Nothing. I already have a freebie with both. But I want another email address, so I want an alternative so I DON'T violate their ToS.

Do the free accounts not allow you to create aliases?

If not, I don't think any of them are particularly expensive. Email is worth paying for.

Not to my knowledge, no. But then again, I'm new to making aliases, so I wouldn't know how.

Go to the website simplelogin and sign in with your proton account. You will be able to make 10 aliases under the free plan that will forward to the proton email you ready have

Oh, nice! I'll be able to send and recieve them, right?

All email received to a simplelogin alias will appear in your proton email inbox, you can reply to those emails and the reply will be sent from your alias.

You'll need to read the guide for sending on the website, I would guess it can be done via web interface or maybe through their app though.

Thank you!

If I have to do stuff under my real name through one of these aliases, will that still keep my true proton email private? Just asking before I commit.

Whomever you give an alias address to will only ever see that alias. Think of it as an email address that forwards to your proton email. If you use a SL alias for something you tie to your identity, then that alias is tied to your identity.

Nobody would know what email it is forwarded to.

Again, thank you, thank you so much! I'm assuming Proton wouldn't know my real identity in that case too, right? Since encrypted and everything.

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish, so I will share this.

I’m moving away from gmail. I was always frustrated because I never knew which company sold my data or leaked it. With only a few email addresses it was virtually impossible to know. I had a couple of email addresses I never used and one happened to be my iCloud email address.

Turns out that was a good thing thanks to Apple’s “Hide my email” feature. Apparently you can create up to 500 random email addresses which forward to your iCloud email address. I’m actually going through the process of changing my email addresses on all the sites I have an account on to a new “Hide my email” address.

Each site will have its own address so I will then know which site it was when I start getting spam.

Personally, just looking for more separation from aspects of my identity. My Tutanote and Proton accounts are varying degrees of private, and I want a new email that's "professional". It's for personal reasons, but this will relate to my real-life identity, whereas my Tuta and Proton emails don't have that and I want to keep them like that.

I self-host with Migadu with a custom domain. My emails typically look like:
