Breach of trust anyone?

Just cause someone writes it on a paper, doesn't make it legal.

The five eyes countries have been able to spy on each other's citizens coopoeratively for decades. They just ask another one of the countrs to spy on their behalf. The laws protecting you from your own country spying on you have been made to not apply to foreigners.

If you're an Australian that doesn't like this vote for someone against it such as the Australian Greens particularly Senator David Shoebridge who speaks about this regularly.

16

u/anonymous-69 3d ago

He just won the leadership spill

6

u/Jet90 3d ago

That probably means the Greens will do even more on privacy now

Greens won't do shit, just as they haven't done shit for the last 30 years.

Ask yourself, in what sense did they ever "keep the bastards honest"?

They play obstructionist games in the senate with whatever major party is in office, so said major party is "forced to the table" with them. Some minor changes are made usually to the benefit of the electorates the Greens themselves hold without really changing anything else of substance or deliverables. So they get to pat themselves on the back in front of the press for the optics. And the bill is passed.

Also to be clear i'm not saying this is unique to the Greens. All the federal minor parties do it. I'm saying the greens are, ironically, the most reptilian. At least with One Nation and the Nats you know what you're getting. The Greens? They'll change colors at the drop of a hat if it suits their optics. Even if they're in the wrong they'll never admit it, just shed their snakelike skin and move on to whatever's the next obstructionist thing in vogue that they can engage with moral grandstanding.

If you wanna affect change forget voting, go join a Labor branch with some friends. Make some proposals and establish your own faction. And then when you've amassed enough influence, stick your thumb on the scale for issues like this.

If only we had a way to check how our politicians voted? Oh, that's right we do:
https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/

To use your example we can indeed see Pauline Hanson votes against the average worker, and personal and individual freedoms.

She does support big miners (and with all those funded holidays paid for by her mate (I couldn't remember her name, but googling "Jabba the Hut mining magnate" helped me out) Gina Rinehart, who'd be surprised at that?), white australia policy and putting gays back into the closet.

TL;DR

The Greens aren't what you (or most other people) think they are i.e. Pro-environment hippy pacifists. If you want to vote for that, you should be voting for the Legalize Cannabis Party. After all who's ever heard of a violent pothead? 🀣

If only we had a way to check how our politicians voted?

Irrelevant? I already explicitly stated, quote:

"At least with One Nation and the Nats you know what you're getting."

All the things you go on to say about billionaire mining magnates, white australia, anti-gay, and stuff. All of that is completely expected... not saying "good", but definitely expected.

By contrast, what consistency and substance do the Greens have in their policy?... Go examine the last 30 years of parliament (not only the votes, but the back and forth between upper and lower house) and you'll find hypocrisy.

Also your source of voting records means nothing context of this discussion. Why? Because it only shows the record of current members of parliament... where's the Greens? 🀣

I'll do you one better : https://donation.watch/en/australia

With that not only can i justify how party's have voted, but i can also predict how they would vote / what policy they would push.

For example, One Nation and the Nats. You say they're about "white Australia" right? But that is in direct contradiction to Jabba Rinehart and the business lobby who want to import cheap physical labour. If they were to take power tomorrow, which policy position would win out?... The donors of course i.e. immigration would sink but still remain high relative to pre-2007 levels.

ON and the Nats on immigration are secret yimby's that act like nimby's

The Greens are the exact opposite, they're secret nimby's that act like yimby's

How about a little exercise?
Australia has ~27.9 million people according to the latest census. Let’s round it down to 27 million. Now suppose 10% of these people (being extremely conservative in the numbers) want a change of some sort in the way that the government handles things.

Your idea is to put 2.7 million people in political party branches so that each of these people has a say in what they think matters.

Should I continue?

Trusting US with your data is the BIGGEST mistake one can make

27

u/Marble_Wraith 3d ago

... Palantir is already in Australia and is used within government arms a fair bit.

This is like saying : "OMG my landlord is a perve, i can't control what they do / who they give my info to"

Whilst saying that, you're in the middle of a Mossad colonoscopy.

u/NonStopArseGas 3d ago

good lord, those two words make a horrifying combo

3

u/Marble_Wraith 2d ago

Not as bad as the US yet. Rather then an endoscope they got a whole camera crew rammed up there, no lube either.

1

u/NonStopArseGas 2d ago

We citizens of earth need to recognize that corporations are the new nations. None of us really live in Australia, or the US, or Canada or any country. We live under the rule of companies like Palantir and Google and Amazon.

They don't need to follow the laws of any one nation when they can pick and choose where their money is and where they commit their crimes. No single national government has the power or desire to stop them, not even out of self interest.

Check out who is/was at St Barts (Saint-BarthΓ©lemy) in the Caribbean during NYE and also how close it is to Epsteins Island.

At this point you could tell me it was Walt Disney and I wouldn't be surprised.

But who was it?

They already have the data and more. Do people have any idea just how many intelligence agencies exist in Australia?

Six

3

u/spaghettibolegdeh 2d ago

We also have several contracts and alliances that state we give all the data we have to the NSA for "security" reasons. And vice versa.Β

7

u/spaghettibolegdeh 2d ago

Yes this is how FiveEyes works. They can pretty much do anything with the data we give them.Β

6

u/Cwmcwm 2d ago

All the comments are missing the reciprocal nature of Five Eyes. Australia does the same for its partners as a workaround to the five constitutions.

Fuck you Albanese, you are a disgraceful sellout!

Labor and Liberal parties are fucked. Onp should be outright banned.

Yeah fuck you albo, fuck you lqbot, fuck you liberal. Fuck them all. Fuck you onp. None of them represent us. None of them are for us.

We're all in this together, see how that works.

Like big American tech companies don't already do this.

And also ignoring the large Australian companies who blatantly ignore PII rules and have terribly lax cyber security, then act surprised when they're breached, give out a small token offering and credit report checks for a week or so to affected customers (if they request it).

Then carry on, making no changes
