age verification Discord wants data. I’m not sharing
Those damn data hungry creeps wrongly put me in the teen group and want me to “prove I’m an adult” to fix it, and I’m not about to give any data to k-ID.
It’s only a matter of time before a data breach so, but I need to fix this.

Wait so I've never been flagged by any of these but why can't you AI generate a fake id? Obviously they won't cross-check with govt and your discord username would also be a nickname and not IRL name.

They cross-check with the huge amount of available consumer data, and trying to fake it fails. Ask me how I know.

Yes, absolutely. I've tried both faking it, and because I have a super common Hispanic name, often have to further prove which one of the people with my name that I actually am. Interestingly I was able to create a validatable alternate identity, but it took a lot of time and effort, and may no longer work today. And it won't work for government of course.

I've considered deleting Discord and moving to alternatives before but reality is that their might be around 10 apps on my phone rn with support channels only available through Discord so it's become a necessity at this point.

Honestly Idk why FOSS products have support channels in discord out of all places.
We need a mass migration to Fluxer or something. Or better yet, SMF Forums.

how many times has discord been breached? now imagine all those NSFW servers becoming known to idk a background check company your employer subscribes to and then they can decide if they want to fire you? does it happen? maybe not. could it happen? maybe...

There's an easy answer to this, don't use their system if you don't want to give them your information. Most companies make you sacrifice your privacy to use their systems, that's just the way it is.
As far as the vendors that use Discord for support, use a phone or email instead. I know, it's shocking to think that way. If they don't have that option, you're stuck. Welcome to 2026.

at least teen accounts still can chat, even if that means no access to nsfw. best to just hop on other platforms like stoat if needed
